MAP 130 Medical Assisting Office Procedures

This course is designed to allow the student to become familiar with administrative procedures in the medical office. Included are principles of appointment scheduling, both written and computerized. Techniques for effective communication are discussed and practiced while utilizing correct grammar in both written and oral communications. Students will work with a medical office practice kit that includes multiple simulations of medical office administrative procedures to include filing, appointment scheduling and patient registration. These procedures will be completed with computerized simulation software as well as hard copy demonstrations. Details of maintaining an office, its equipment, and supplies will be discussed.
