BIO 549 Advanced Zoo Animal Behavior

Principles of animal behavior from a physiological, ecological, and evolutionary perspective as well as the tools and techniques to manage animal behavior in zoos and aquariums. Topics will include physiological mechanisms of behavior, social organization, mating systems, parental care, communication, foraging strategies, predator-prey interactions, aggression, learning, environmental enrichment, and operant conditioning via positive reinforcement.
