MUSI 3301 Music History and Literature II

A historical survey of Western musical tradition from the 17th and 18th centuries. The overall objective is for the student to gain an understanding of basic developments in Western music from the Baroque and Classical Periods. The course will include a study of styles and genres, and will place emphasis on listening, formal structure and musical analysis. The course is also designed to increase the students critical thinking skills and ability to write effectively about the aesthetics of Western Music.
