BIOL 4424 Microbial Ecology

An introduction to the diversity of microbes found in nature. Emphasis is placed on the ecological significance of bacterial communities found in terrestrial, aquatic and extreme ecosystems, as well as their metabolic activities, interactions, and survival strategies. The effects of microbial activities in areas such as bioremediation and biogeochemistry are also addressed.
