MASC 6342 Chican@/Latin@ Narratives of Schooling
Course engages in a critical analysis of Chican@ & Latin@ educational experiences as expressed through various cultural media and through one's own counterstory-telling. The course aims to explore how we can create asset-based transformative educational experiences for Chican@s and Latin@s by better understanding one?s own schooling experiences and those of the community. Moreover, we will engage in a cultural wealth mapping of the community to see what strengths we might tap into in order to address the educational needs and desires of Chican@ and Latin@ communities. In addition, we will apply Chican@ Studies analyses and methodologies to address real educational needs of the community.
