MANE 6376 Advanced Materials

This course introduces advanced materials for engineers, emphasizing the types, synthesis and production/mechanical, chemical, electrochemical, physical properties and industrial applications of a number of advanced materials/coatings and thin films. The course will focus on the industrial applications and future of advanced materials mainly for Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical and Oil and Gas applications. Topics include nanomaterials (nanocomposites and nanoceramics) biomaterials (materials in medicine and dentistry), smart coatings and materials, smart polymers, bio-inspired materials, high temperature refractory materials and coatings, shape memory alloys, magnetic materials.
