Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates from Messiah’s Journalism program can:

  1. Apply principles and laws of freedom of speech and press, professional ethical principles, and what it means to work ethically in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness, and diversity and in light of Christian faith
  2. Identify and provide examples of the key elements of a news story in multiple platforms.
  3. Research effectively, write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communication professions, audiences, and purposes they serve, and present images and information effectively via all journalistic mediums
  4. Communicate clearly, solve problems and work independently, and work collaboratively as a team member
