Overview

About the Program

The Associate of Science (AS) Degree at Marion Technical College is designed to be a cost-effective option for someone who is ultimately seeking a four-year degree or career advancement. The AS degree is a two-year general education degree comprised of courses that emphasize Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and includes the core curriculum that most Bachelor of Arts programs require. It also offers components of English, Social Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. Graduates of this program will have the general education necessary to pursue a bachelor’s degree at most four-year colleges and universities as juniors.

The Ohio Department of Higher Education has guaranteed that the AS degree will transfer to all of Ohio’s public colleges and universities. All students will complete the state general education requirements, the Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36). MTC also currently offers Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways (OGTP) in Business, Economics, English, History, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology, and more majors will be added soon. Students who follow an OTGP will be able to transfer to any Ohio public university with junior status in the major. MTC also has partnerships with many private institutions within Ohio, including 100% online. Students should work closely with their academic advisor to make sure they meet the requirements of their intended university to ensure a seamless transfer.
