The student is introduced to the principles, techniques and issues in the sterile processing department. Topics include medical terminology, anatomy, microbiology, sterile techniques and asepsis, packing and wrapping, and instrumentation. This course includes both lecture and laboratory component. Students enrolled in an online section must schedule two days on campus to review and be checked off on laboratory components.
