MEDA 1540 Medical Assistant Practicum
This practicum provides the student with the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and behaviors presented in the classroom and laboratory setting to the clinical setting. Students will complete a total of 160 hours in selected health care facilities, offices and clinics. In addition, students will spend 15 hours in the classroom setting completing activities and discussions designed to assist the student in transitioning to the professional workforce, including preparation for the certification exam and assessment of job readiness. Learning experiences are designed to include the educational competencies for the role of a medical assistant. A cleared criminal background check and negative drug screen are required prior to enrollment. The student must successfully complete this course in order to be eligible for certification. NRST 1200,
ZOO 2015 or
ZOO-1200,
MEDA 1500,
MEDA 1510 and
MEDA 1520; and completion ofor concurrent enrollment in
MATH 1000 or higher and
ENGL 1010. (1 lect., 12 lab)
