BIO 440 Conservation Biology

Emphasis on the preservation of biological diversity and its evolutionary potential. Basic topics include a history of conservation biology, investigations of metapopulation dynamics, and genetic consequences of reduced biotic populations, restoration methods for ecological systems and an analysis of important policies. Course material will focus on the Appalachian region. This class will have three hours of lecture and one three hour laboratory per week.
