Sociology (B.A.) with Criminology Concentration

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates from Messiah’s Sociology program can:

1. Apply major concepts and ideas within classical and contemporary sociological theories to real-world contexts.
2. Apply qualitative and quantitative research methods while conducting social scientific research.
3. Apply information and technology relevant to the social sciences
4. Articulate a broad knowledge of human variations across cultures, class, race and ethnicity, gender, religion, and value orientations to understand the dynamics and complexity of human social interaction.
5. Apply critical thinking skills in their examination of social institutions and issues of conflict, inequality, prejudice, discrimination, and deviance.
6. Articulate options for employment, voluntary service, and/or graduate education in sociology and related fields.
7. Articulate how faith connects to sociological theory, research, and ethics within the discipline and reflect upon issues of faith in their potential career options.
