Course Credit Hours
The value in the notes of the course is the number of credit hours students earn upon completion of the course. The following is how each course breakdown is identified:
- The first digit within the parentheses following the number of credit hours indicates the number of lecture/class hours per week.
- The second digit indicates the number of laboratory hours per week.
- The third digit is the number of clinical/practicum credit hours per week.
Example: 5 Hours (3 - 1 - 1)
Special Topics Courses
Special Topics courses may be offered by programs to provide additional breadth and enrichment. When offered, these courses will be listed on the semester schedule under the prefix of the appropriate department and will carry a course number of 599 or 699 depending upon course level.
Course Prerequisites and Co-Requisites
Course prerequisites must be completed prior to the start of a course. A minimum grade of “B” or better is necessary to meet Nursing (NUR) or Health Care Administration (HCA) course prerequisites. A minimum grade of "C" or better is necessary to meet Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) course prerequisites.
Course co-requisites may be completed prior to starting a course or be enrolled simultaneously with the course.
Transferable course equivalents and other course substitutions may be allowed by the program directors to meet prerequisites and co-requisites. In special circumstances, program directors or division deans may allow students to enroll in courses without meeting prerequisites or co-requisites.
