PSYC 2340 Psychopathology
This course is an overview of psychological disorders, including anxiety, somatic, personality, mood, neurodevelopmental, substance use, neurocognitive, and trauma disorders. Topics of emphasis include diagnostic criteria, etiology, and treatment. Prerequisite: Completion of PSYC 1000. (3 lect.)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Describe the classification and diagnostic criteria of psychological disorders.
2. Diagnose psychological disorders from case assessments.
3. Explain etiology, risk, the diathesis-stress model, and prognostication features of disorders.
4. Determine differential diagnoses and comorbidity.
5. Discuss functional consequences of disorders, including clinically significant distress and impairment, quality of life effects, and cultural concepts of distress.
6. Compare treatment methods, including evidence-based psychotherapy modalities and psychopharmacology.
