CSMO 1600 Intro to Skin Technology

This course is an introduction to skin structure, disorders, and nutrition. The student will learn analysis procedures and facial treatments that promote the health and well-being of the skin. Product technology and massage principles are covered in this course, along with facial waxing. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in CSMO 1702. (3 lect.)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

Describe the structure and function of the skin.

Identify the food and nutrients essential for healthy skin.

Identify the common disorders and diseases of the skin, including acne, skin lesions, pigment, and skin cancer, and aging skin.

Perform manual massage.

Identify the components eyebrow maintenance.

Perform eyebrow grooming, including waxing and tweezing.

Perform infection control procedures in all practices.
