EDUC 517 Non-Formal Educational Models
Coming from Western, traditional education backgrounds, many are familiar with formal educational models (e.g. schools, universities). This course is intended to provide a different approach to learning and knowledge acquisition. It will introduce students to non-formal educational models outside of the traditional classroom environment, for example community or environmental centers, family surroundings, libraries, museums, organizations, sport facilities, theaters, and workplaces. The course will make several selected site visits to experience non-formal education first-hand.
