BIO 329 Applied Microbiology
An integrated lecture/laboratory course designed to explore the interrelationships and functions of microorganisms in ecological and environmental processes related to water, soil, food/agriculture, biomedicine applications, biotechnology and bioremediation. Emphasis will be placed on laboratory procedures governing water quality, environmental health and monitoring, using environmentally sourced microbes to discover novel genes/proteins and generating energy and chemicals. Laboratory sessions will be integrated with lectures during the seven contact hour/week.
