EP 333 Exercise Metabolism & Nutrition

This course explores aspects of human metabolism including the basic concepts and kinetics of enzymes; the mobilization, utilization, and regulation of substrates at rest and exercise along with the roles of different tissues, and the pathways of biosynthesis. Using the knowledge of metabolism as a foundation, dietary misconceptions and fads, the dietary needs of athletes, and the effects of ergogenic aids, dietary supplements, and nontraditional dietary practices on human physical performance are examined. Prerequisites: EP 325, 326, and HE 300
