Student Accessibility Services
Student Accessibility Services exists to facilitate students’ equal access to university programs and services, promote student learning and development, foster independence and self-advocacy, promote an environment that is free of physical and attitudinal barriers, and provide leadership to the campus on disability and accessibility issues.
Students with disabilities: To receive services from UTRGV Student Accessibility Services, the student, according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), must self-disclose a physical or mental disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities. These disabilities can include, but are not limited to learning, hearing, vision, psychological, health and physical disabilities. Students who experience a broken bone, severe injury or undergo surgery during the semester may be eligible for temporary accommodations. Documentation of a disability is required. Students can apply for accommodations using the online portal located at www.utrgv.edu/mySAS
For pregnancy, pregnancy-related conditions, and parenting accommodations: Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities. Students seeking accommodations related to pregnancy, pregnancy-related conditions, or parenting (reasonably immediate postpartum period) are encouraged to contact Student Accessibility Services for additional information or to schedule an intake appointment. Students can apply for accommodations by submitting the Pregnancy Accommodations Request
