MDO-610 Introduction to Medical Dosimetry
This course serves as an introduction to the radiation therapy care process in a Radiation Oncology department with a focus on the roles of medical dosimetrist and the multidisciplinary care team. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and case studies, students will be introduced to the professional and clinical aspects of medical dosimetry. Additional topics include common terminology in radiation oncology, radiation safety, patient rights, infection control, communication for the clinic, patient assessment, and psychosocial aspects of cancer. Through hands-on labs, students are introduced to principles of treatment planning with a focus on contouring and 3D planning for palliative and simple pelvic plans.
