SOAN 232 Sociology of Aging

Comprehensive introduction to the field of social gerontology. Special emphasis is given to the aged in the context of how older adults both affect and are affected by our society. Includes study of demography, cultural values, diversity of aging experiences, friendship and family relationships, work and retirement, living arrangements, political activity and social programs. Students engage in Elder Service Partner Program for the duration of the class.
