PHYS 317 Optics

The course presents a foundation for classical optics, including Maxwell's equations, plane waves, Gaussian beams, diffraction, optical transfer functions, interference, polarization, dichroism, and image formation. In addition, applications to modern optics, including nonlinear and quantum optics, will be considered.
