OCCU 573 Health Promotion in OT: Community Interventions

This course emphasizes the role of the OT in the promotion of health, wellness, health education and prevention. The course addresses the socio-cultural, socio-economic and socio-political contexts and their ramifications/impact on health and healthcare access. Students examine and discuss issues of racism, discrimination, health disparity, social determinants and social injustice. The needs of underserved populations are explored and strategies to promote health and wellness for populations at risk are developed.
