OCCU 501 Foundations of Occupational Therapy

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the profession of occupational therapy including the study of the historical and philosophical foundations, as well as the core values and basic tenets of the profession. The course focuses on the understanding of occupation, occupation-based practice, and an introduction to the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process (OTPF). Professional documents, organizations, standards for documentation, and the roles and responsibilities of occupational therapy personnel are discussed.
