MUGE 101 Fundamentals of Music Theory

This course will provide students the history and appreciation of Western music from the Renaissance to the 20th century through lecture, listening, and class discussion, along with an opportunity to study the basic concepts involved in the analysis and composition of music. Designed to satisfy the General Education requirement for non-music majors, this course also serves as a viable precursor to Music Theory I (MUTH 101) so that music majors or minors with no prior knowledge of theory can better prepare to follow the course of study required for their degrees. Fundamentals of Music Theory will not count toward the degree for students who major or minor in music. Meets QuEST/General Education Arts requirement.
