HDFS 361 Introduction to Child Life

This course will offer a basic introduction to the field of child life, the role of the child life specialist in healthcare, theory, history, scope of professional practices, overview of Child Life Council and the certification process. The fundamental skills of a child life specialist (assessment, medical play, and psychological preparation, provision of coping strategies, sibling work, disease education and end of life support) will be discussed.
