GIS 245 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems

A Geographical Information System (GIS) is a cross-disciplinary computer-based data processing program designed to manage and analyze spatial information. ArcView GIS is a PC-based software package used for visualizing, exploring, querying, editing, and analyzing data linked to geographic locations. The emphasis of this course is on software training and use of technology in order to provide students with a core base and general skills on which they can build further expertise in GIS. Two lectures and three hours of lab per week. Students from all majors are welcome. Lab Fee: $65.
