Associate of Applied Science

Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technology - Smart Manufacturing option will equip graduates with key skills in both instrumentation and controls engineering and information technology. Students will learn to install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain automated systems. These systems will make use of networks of advanced sensors, data analytics, and information and communication technologies to improve manufacturing productivity. After completing the program, students will be able to build careers in areas such as electrical and electronics engineering and instrumentation and controls engineering.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Install devices used in an automated systems.

2. Calibrate devices used in automated systems.

3. Program PLCs used in automated systems.

4. Troubleshoot automated systems that use PLCs.

5. Install industrial robots.

6. Program industrial robots.

7. Describe the operation analog electronics.

8. Describe the operation of digital electronics.

9. Describe how data from automation devices feed into a networked system.

10. Describe the role of a database in a manufacturing information system.

11. Recommend safeguards to protect against cyberattacks.

12. Adhere to safety while working in a manufacturing or production environment
