SWA1000 Introduction to Addiction Studies
This introductory course is an overview of the addictions field including drug abuse, addictive disorders, and the prevention. Treatment approaches, service coordination, documentation, professionalism and ethics are also explored by the students. This course meets the content requirements for the Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certificate issued by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. Students will study models of prevention and intervention strategies used with various populations. Risk factors associated with use, abuse, and dependence will be examined.
