HIT1201 Health Record Management I
This course is an introductory course to health information management technology. Students will learn about the health information management (HIM) profession including careers and certifications within HIM. They will be introduced to how health information is collected, stored, maintained, and updated as well as how it is kept private, confidential, and secure. Healthcare legislation will be discussed including fraud and abuse compliance as it pertains to health records, revenue management, and reimbursement. In addition, students will be introduced to ethical issues in healthcare and health information management.
