ENG1001 English Composition I Plus

The course covers the fundamentals of rhetoric, research and writing academic essays.  More specifically, this course introduces students to the requirements and conventions of academic writing, including clear expression, focused purpose, and audience awareness. It focuses on college-level critical thinking to be demonstrated by analysis, argument and skillful support of a thesis. The course also includes instruction on the stages of the writing process, from prewriting exercises through rough drafts and revisions. Sentence and paragraph-level writing aspects, such as grammar usage and paragraph structure, will be addressed.

 

NOTE: This course provides additional support for students whose reading and writing placement scores indicate they may benefit from such support. Students who successfully complete the course are given credit for ENG1000.
