CRJ2150 Criminalistics

This course covers advanced techniques in the collection, identification, preservation, and transportation of physical evidence, as well as crime laboratory capabilities and limitations. A major portion of the course centers on discussions and labs involving common items of physical evidence encountered at crime scenes. The course includes descriptions of forensic analysis, techniques for the proper collection and preservation of evidence, and Biology concepts relating to the analysis of physical evidence. An introduction to fingerprinting and general classification of fingerprints, ballistics and firearms identification, photography, DNA, energy and matter as it applies to evidence, the human body, including typing and recognizing human blood, and other techniques necessary for law enforcement to successfully investigate and prosecute major crimes are included. 3 Cr Hrs.
