BIO 355 Bioinformatics I

This introductory course will teach students with no prior bioinformatics experience how to find, interpret, and deploy current software to solve biological problems. Students will develop critical thinking skills and comfort with computational techniques through lectures and exposure to real world biological research challenges. Topics covered will include biological data formats, data wrangling, biological database usage, sequence analysis basics, and next generation sequencing pipelines. A computer is preferred for participation in this course but not necessary.
