Voice & Speech for the Actor I THE 265
A study of the development of appropriate vocal and speech techniques for the actor. Students will learn about the integration of relaxation, appropriate breathing techniques and support, resonance control and flexibility, and clarity of articulation to enhance their performance. The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) will be used to aid understanding and use of Standard American English and in the elimination and control of regionalisms and to help in the development of dialects for stage purposes. Monologues and scene work will be used to enforce the integration of voice and speech to the performance.
