BIO 423 Pathophysiology

Terminology and mechanisms (biochemical, cytological and histological) common to many diseases, including such topics as causes and types of cell injury and death, inflammation and healing, infection, the immune response, disorders of growth (including cancer), edema, fever and hypothermia, hemorrhage and shock, effects of ionizing radiation, and disorders of circulation. Three lectures per week. Primarily for biology majors and minors, majors in biology teacher education, students in the pre-professional programs (pre-medical, pre-dental, etc.), and advanced students in the health professions. Pre-req: BIO 124, 125, and 302. May be offered upon student request: consult with department chairperson
