NUR-4320 Nursing Care of Clients with Complex Health Conditions
This course focuses on the nursing care of adult clients and their families experiencing complex, acute, and life-threatening alterations in health across emergency and critical care settings. Building on foundational medical-surgical knowledge, it addresses the prioritization and management of clients with unstable, rapidly changing conditions such as trauma, respiratory failure, shock, sepsis, multiorgan dysfunction, and cardiovascular, neurological, and renal emergencies. Emphasis is placed on developing clinical judgment to recognize and respond to deterioration, applying pharmacologic principles to complex medication regimens, and using evidence to guide collaborative interventions. The course also examines interprofessional collaboration, safe transitions informed by social determinants of health, and the nurse's role in end-of-life care and organ and tissue donation.
