BIOL 416 Cancer Biology

Exploration of the molecular and cellular mechanisms leading to neoplasia and the progression to invasive malignancy and metastasis. Topics include carcinogenesis, tumor viruses, oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, growth factors and signal transduction pathways, and an emphasis on complex tumor-host interactions including angiogenesis and tumor immunology. Etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various cancers are addressed.
