Associate of Applied Business Degree

Overview

  • Identify real estate professions including different types of agencies, types of contracts, ways of determining the value of properties, finance principles, appraisal principles, and law as it applies to real estate contracts.   

  • Recognize important laws as it pertains to real estate salespersons and brokers including agency and property law, licensure law, and real estate contract law. 

  • Utilize basic finance principles as they relate to real estate including estimating costs for closing a property loan, analyzing a closing statement. 

  • Identify the different primary and secondary lending institutions and federal loan programs.  

  • Identify the different approaches to valuing property and the principles that impact real estate value, utilize data sources for information required for an appraisal, and reconcile data for a final value estimate of properties.  

  • Evaluate business career pathways.  

  • Use problem-solving methodology to solve customer concerns and business problems. 

  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to measure, process, and communicate financial information. 

  • Develop a marketing plan incorporating products, promotions, sales ideas, and strategies.  

  • Describe legal requirements and ethical considerations pertaining to organizations. 

  • Explain economics concepts including demand, supply, competition, resources and making choices with regards to consumer behavior.  

  • Apply techniques used to transition from the classroom to the work environment.  

  • Demonstrate business practices within the Business Management field. 

  • Demonstrate effective communication both written and orally. 

  • Solve problems using mathematics. 

  • Solve problems through analysis, creativity, and synthesis to make informed decisions. 

  • Demonstrate good work habits, effective interpersonal and teamwork skills, and a high level of professionalism. 

  • Utilize technology tools efficiently and effectively to perform personal and professional tasks. 

  • Exhibit respect and sensitivity for individual and institutional differences. 

Application Requirements

  • MTC Application for Admission and nonrefundable applicable fee.
  • High school transcript (or GED results) and college transcripts (if applicable).
  • Demonstrate college-readiness by achieving the required minimum score on a placement test, successfully completing any required college foundation courses, or satisfying other measures including but not limited to high school coursework, previous college coursework, samples of work, etc.
