EQST 3605 Training and Development of the Young Horse II

This course is part two of Training and Developing the Young Horse. This is an advanced riding and training course where the student will further the training and development of their green broke horse toward a higher level of training for a specific discipline or preparation for marketing for sale. The student will determine specific end goals for the training period and will work with the instructor to develop a training timeline that is realistic and attainable. The student will need to provide a 2 to 4 year-old horse that they have taken through Training and Development of the Young Horse I. Working with young horses is a challenge, due to the unpredictable nature of horses, and requires the successful student to be physically, mentally, and emotionally fit. The student will be directly assessed on their ability to apply acquired training techniques by demonstrating their competency, mastery, and positive progression through the training and development of their young horse toward their determined end goal. This course requires the strong skills gained in previous EQST courses. The student will also create a training contract template. Prerequisites: Completion of EQST 3600, instructor permission, and a suitable horse (1 lect., 10 lab)
