MUSC 1390 Jazz Ensemble I

Jazz Ensemble I performs "big band" literature from the 1920's to contemporary styles. Students develop instrumental performance skills, and understanding of basic jazz theory, and jazz listening skills as they regularly evaluate their own and other's performances. Works for jazz ensemble are performed in consideration of their cultural/historical context. Regular attendance and concert attire are required. Ensemble performs both concerts and dances throughout the year. This course may be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits applicable toward graduation. An audition is required for proper placement.
