THEA 2030 Beginning Playwriting
This course introduces students to the craft of playwriting through the analysis of plays, the completion of writing exercises, and the writing and revising of a one-act play. Selected scripts will be produced by the Theatre Department. (3 Lect.)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Complete reading assignments and participate in class discussions of the material
2. Read, analyze, and discuss the works of established playwrights
3. Complete a variety of exercises pertaining to script format, invention, characterization, dialogue, exposition, conflict, and structure
4. Maintain a writer’s journal
5. Discuss, analyze and critique their own writing and that of their peers
6. Write and revise a one-act play suitable for production
