THEA 1100 Acting I
This course is designed for beginning actors with little or no experience. The student is given a foundation in the Stanislavski system of acting with an emphasis on the inner processes of the actor. The student will rehearse and perform a variety of realistic acting exercises. (3 lect.) ARTS

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Lead the class in a warm-up session
2. Define terms relating to the stage and the Stanislavski system
3. Describe and explain the basic elements of acting in oral and written formats
4. Apply Stanislavski’s concepts and techniques in the creation of believable characters and the performance of realistic acting exercises, monologues, and scenes.
5. Analyze scripts and characters from diverse countries, historical periods, and styles in oral and written formats.
6. Write weekly entries in a journal, making intellectual and aesthetic judgments on acting as an art and cultural force and reflecting an appreciation of the art.
7. Evaluate his/her own performances and those of others in oral and written formats.
