MUSC 1453 Community Handbell Choir
Community Handbell choir is a performance-oriented course designed to study and rehearse handbell literature employing proper ringing techniques and musicianship. No music experience is required. For community members only. (S/U grading only)(2 lab)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Employ proper handbell ringing techniques and care of the instrument.
2. Identify and apply note names, rhythmic values, and music terminology.
3. Perform literature using correct notes, rhythms, articulations, and dynamics.
4. Analyze literature as to form, style, modes of expression, and its contribution to history and impact on cultures.
5. Evaluate personal performances and exterior performances, including a variety of cultures of handbell choirs and literature.
6. Present the findings of the history, development, and applications of handbells and handbell literature.

Because of the nature of the ensemble, attendance by all members at rehearsals and scheduled performances is critical to the success of the ensemble as a whole. New literature is presented each semester; this class may be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits toward graduation.
