MDIA 2455 Video Field Production

This course is designed to develop advanced skills using a single camera for video field production. The course stresses advanced techniques in camera, lighting, sound, and nonlinear editing. This is a field-based course in which students will be required to create media content outside of a traditional television studio setting. (3 lect.)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Identify the three stages of the production process.

2. Demonstrate the preproduction process for public service announcements and corporate videos for new media.

3. Conduct research under time constraints.

4. Manage a production schedule under tight deadlines.

5. Design and manage a production budget.

6. Demonstrate proper camera technique.

7. Illustrate the process of setting up and shooting commercials, public service announcements, and corporate videos.

8. Practice proper audio setup and monitoring technique.

9. Demonstrate lighting for commercials, public service announcement, and corporate advertising.

10. Organize video, b-roll, and notes for a script.

11. Edit a video advertisement, public service announcement, and corporate video for new media.
