GIST 2125 Geographic Info Systems Database Apps

This course provides instruction and practical exercises relating to the design and creation of geodatabases, the geodatabase inter-face with global positioning systems (GPS); and techniques for optimizing geodatabases. Prerequisites: Completion of GIST 1200, and GIST 2310; and completion of or concurrent enrollment in GIST 2120. (0.5 lect., 1 lab)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Design and build a subject-specific geodatabase in ArcGIS

2. Outline the key steps in transferring data from a geodatabase to a GPS unit; move data in and out of ArcGIS geodatabases

3. Optimize a geodatabase using relationship classes, topology object and appropriate data domains and subtypes
