Statics is the study of vector mechanics of particles and rigid bodies in static equilibrium. Prerequisites: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in MATH 2200. (3 credits)

Apply vector analysis techniques to solve equilibrium problems.

Apply the methods of joints and sections to find forces in members of trusses.

Apply the theory of dry friction to solve problems involving impending motion and wedges.

Apply the concepts of centroids, center of mass, and moment of inertia to lines, areas, and volumes.

Analyze shear and bending moments in beams with discrete and distributed loads.
