EDFD 2450 Human Life Span Development

This course offers a multi-disciplinary and holistic overview of human development from conception to old age. To understand how and why people function as they do, we will examine the physical, cognitive, psychological, sociological, and emotional aspects of being human and inquire into how goals, interests, and roles in life change over time. (3 lect.) SOC

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Investigate contemporary theories and models of human development.

2. Interpret the influence of culture and socialization.

3. Examine the cultural aspects of physical growth and development, including language and cognition.

4. Compare the development of self and personality.

5. Analyze moral development.

6. Discuss the issues of sex and gender, and the influence of family in a cultural context.

7. Define and identify social behavior.

8. Identify universal health issues and their cultural context.
