EDEC 1305 Curriculum Planning/Dev Young Child Lab
This field experience course provides opportunities for supervised teaching experiences in an approved early childhood education center. Students will plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum activities. A current Wyoming substitute teaching permit or approved background check is needed before placement in a classroom. See instructor for appropriate forms and required fee. Prerequisites: Completion of
EDEC 1020 and completion of or concurrent enrollment in
EDEC 1300. (2 lab)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Make informed decisions about the most appropriate teaching methods and materials.
2. Know key strategies for curriculum development and implementation.
3. Explain the role of play in the learning process.
4. Demonstrate skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate experiences.
5. Describe the "whole child" approach to learning.
6. Demonstrate, in a lab setting, appropriate activities for 3-5 year old children.

Any information placed here must be adhered to by all instructors:
Students will prepare one lesson in each of the ten Early Childhood curricula areas and present a minimum of five lessons in an early childhood setting. If possible, at least two of the lessons should be presented at an early child care facility where the instructor can evaluate them.
