CRMJ 1005 Law Enforcement Health and Wellness

Physical wellness, health, and fitness are important to law enforcement officers. Not only is this important to the individual officer, it is common that another person’s well being and safety will depend on an officer’s wellness, health and fitness. The student will gain experience, skills, and information to create a healthy lifestyle. (3 lect.)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

Identify components of a sound physical health and wellness plan.

Examine the importance of physical health and wellness in the law enforcement profession.

Create an individual physical health and wellness plan.

Evaluate sources of health information.

Evaluate cardiovascular fitness.

Examine the impact of muscle strength, flexibility and endurance on physical health and wellness.

Identify proper nutrition.

Describe appropriate weight management strategies.

Recognize challenges associated with high-risk health behaviors.

Describe chronic disease prevention.
