COCR 1000 Cultural Appreciation:
This course is designed to meet the requirements for the Cultural Appreciation General Education Requirement. Specific topics will be identified in the current course schedule. Cultural Appreciation is fostering an understanding of the beliefs, behaviors, objectives, and other characteristics common to the members of a culture(s).
Major Topics
- Beliefs, objects, or behaviors of a chosen culture
- Creative/critical thinking
- History of chosen culture
- Current state of chosen culture
Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Examine a cultural experience(s) according to its true worth to the individual.
2. Describe what role the belief(s), behavior(s), objective(s), or other characteristic(s) examined play in the chosen culture.
3. Critique the beliefs, behaviors, objectives or other characteristics of the chosen culture and their effect on society as a whole.
